Letter to the Coastal Conservancy on the Standard Access Specification Review.

For the first time since 1983, The California Coastal Conservancy will be revising their access standards for our public lands and beaches and up until November 12th, the Conservancy will be taking public input and opinion to try and create the most inclusive plan and policies possible. Both Fin and Forage and the California Backcountry Hunters and Anglers thought that this would be a excellent opportunity to ensure that the new standards explicitly include both on shore and beach launched anglers and divers and create a more welcoming environment for participants from all communities. To have items like these made standard in the access specifications would go a long way to cement the use of these areas for a multitude of recreational and consumptive opportunities and use of our public lands to the fullest extent for decades to come.

We have attached the letter below and also the link to the comment period if you would like to either second our ideas or would like to insert your own comments. Comments are due by November 5, 2021 and should be submitted to publiccomments@scc.ca.gov. Based on comments received, the Standards will be revised before the Conservancy Board considers adoption at their December 2, 2021 meeting. Please take this opportunity to make your voice heard. Every letter and email shows the people in charge of our lands that we are here and we are willing to participate.
